A fun time was had by those who braved the Bethel olympic games at this year’s June picnic. Matthew Norton and Ruth Mejia claimed victory over their contenders in the highly competitive bean bag toss. Not to be outdone, Abby Salinas and Daniela Sebastiani took very quick coordinated steps toward the finish line to win the three-legged race. “It was great to see fathers [participating] with their children,” stated Cecilia Sebastiani.

I’ll tell you, I was amazed at the turnout. It was relaxing and fun. Kids and people were everywhere. The playground area was overrun with little ones. It will be interesting to see how full the playground is in years to come when many of the babies are running around. Bocce ball was a lot of fun and it is a game that easily breaks barriers as seen on Sunday. Some of us will have to get a couple more sets to start an annual tournament. Hispanic, English, young, and old; all played together in many of the different sports. In soccer, I watched a little guy score a goal on a bunch of big guys; and I watched a couple of old guys outrun some of the younger guys. This last Sunday was a day that needs to take place more often. It was good to enjoy each other. It was good to be together as one church.
